College Council Chairperson Welcome Message

Dear Council, Management, and Staff Members:

May I be among those who wish you a prosperous new year filled with abundant success, good health, and harmony.

This is the last year of the current council appointed by the Minister in 2019. We have spent the last five years together, and we have scored successes and experienced shortfalls. In the process, whether good or bad, we have learned lessons and grown to become better governors and communities. We have taken all decisions in the best interest of the poor and downtrodden. We have taken all decisions to protect the livelihood of our personnel, and, to promote the transformation of the TVET sector to benefit the historically disadvantaged. At the centre of our decision-making was Gert Sibande TVET College, the only college named after the struggle in Mpumalanga.

Gert Sibande TVET College is the College of Choice and, indeed, the leading college brand in South Africa. Looking at the journey we have travelled thus far, I am confident that we have touched more lives positively. Gert Sibande TVET College is a trendsetter, and model for other TVET Colleges in the Country.

I would like to thank our beloved Acting Principal, Mr. Molifi Mabe, and his Deputy Principals for keeping the College in shape and thus providing astute admissions and technical direction. The college as it is today is liquid and a going concern.

My salutations go to our staff members and the students, who are probably the most important segment of the College. During our tenure, we honoured the commitment made to our staff members and allowed everyone to further their studies. Most of them took advantage and enrolled in divergent postgraduate, master’s, and doctoral qualifications.

Allow me to wish you the compliments of the New Year on behalf of the council, management, and the entire community of Gert Sibande TVET College.

Dr. Bongani June Mwale

College Council Chairperson
